The 1 kb DNA Ladder is designed for sizing linear double-stranded DNA fragments ranging from 1 kb to 10 kb. It consists of eight bands: 1000 bp, 2000 bp, 3000 bp, 4000 bp, 5000 bp, 6000 bp, 8000 bp, and 10000 bp. The 4 kb band is provided at 100 ng per 5 µL, with enhanced intensity for easy internal orientation. All other bands are at 50 ng per 5 µL. The ladder is supplied in 1× loading buffer.
The ladder is generated via PCR and restriction enzyme digestion of double-stranded DNA. The DNA is purified by phenol extraction and equilibrated in 10 mM Tris-HCl (pH 8.0) with 1 mM EDTA. The Ready-to-Use DNA Ladder is supplied in a ready-to-load format. For agarose gel electrophoresis, load approximately 1 µL of ladder per millimeter of lane width.
