Background
Enables corticotropin-releasing hormone receptor 1 binding activity and corticotropin-releasing hormone receptor 2 binding activity. Involved in several processes, including regulation of macromolecule metabolic process; regulation of secretion by cell; and response to corticosteroid. Located in extracellular space; perikaryon; and varicosity. Is active in neuronal dense core vesicle lumen. Used to study hypoglycemia and obesity. Biomarker of several diseases, including alcohol use disorder; cerebrovascular disease (multiple); extrahepatic cholestasis; sciatic neuropathy; and withdrawal disorder. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in obesity and panic disorder. Orthologous to human CRH (corticotropin releasing hormone).
