The Red Mitochondrial Superoxide Indicator is a fluorogenic dye for the highly selective detection of superoxide in the mitochondria of live cells, serving as an alternative to MitoSOX superoxide indicator. This reagent is cell-permeant and rapidly and selectively targets mitochondria. Once inside the mitochondria, the reagent is oxidized by superoxide and exhibits bright red fluorescence. Mitochondrial superoxide production can then be visualized using fluorescence microscopy. Importantly, the MitoROS Red reagent is readily oxidized by superoxide but not by other reactive oxygen species (ROS) or reactive nitrogen species (RNS).
